  • About me

    Hi I'm Dave,

I finished my schooling here on the Gold Coast Queensland and learned my trade here as well. As Qld licensed electricians my father (David Lloyd Edwards) and I looked after local residents’ electrical work since the 1970’s. Now, with over 30 years of experience in the electrical industry on the Gold Coast, I can help you find a solution to your domestic electrical installation needs.

    Service area

I service the area within the Gold Coast which extends from the Qld/NSW border in Coolangatta north to Coomera, and extends from the beaches and Broadwater, west to Upper Coomera, Lower Beechmont, Advancetown, Bonogin and Mudgeeraba, Tallebudgera and Currumbin Valleys, including all suburbs within this area. Quotes

Obtaining an electrical quote is a wise step. Waiting for tradesmen to arrive to provide electrical quotations can slow down the process and can be an inconvenience. I can provide your electrical quotes on most items over the phone when you first call me. Once you have your pricing, you can budget your expenses right away.

    Safety items

Safety items that you may want to ask me about are, a safety switch to provide earth leakage protection, or a surge arrestor ( sometimes called a lightning arrestor ) installed on your switchboard if you are in an area prone to lightning strikes. Another safety item is the smoke alarm. Smoke alarms are recommended by all fire services.

    Convenience items

Convenience items such as extra phone points or power points can be installed for your computer station. I recommend a double power point for added convenience. Telephone points can provide dial up or broadband internet connection in most areas. Maybe you need a weatherproof power point for the BBQ, or just an extra light or sensor light in a dark area. Weatherproof power points are required by Australian standards in certain circumstances near wet and outdoor areas.

    Comfort items

Comfort items include a ceiling fan in the bedroom, or an exhaust fan in the bathroom. When buying exhaust fans, they do not need to be the most expensive available, as the inexpensive ones work well. Combination fan heater light units are also a popular choice for the bathroom. Some brands are IXL Tastic, and Neat Heat. Most people like to purchase their own ceiling fans, sensor lights, and combination fan heater lights, since there are so many styles to choose from.

    Power bill

Power bill savings may be available if you do not yet have hot water tariff metering or your swimming pool circuit and tariff metering set up. Cheaper tariffs are designed for pool power, and hot water power. Customers need to get an electrician to prepare meter wiring at customers premises before tariff meters are installed. Your hot water is the simplest of these since it already has a dedicated circuit designed to supply enough power to the hot water element. Swimming pool wiring will need to be assessed first, to see if a pool circuit needs to be installed. Also, swimming pool electrical equipment will need to hardwired to the circuit. Swimming pool power consumption can be rather high, so it is worth consideration.

    Types of work

New construction work, House renovations, and extensions also need electrical installation work. These projects are also within my scope of work. You may provide plans with your electrical specs included, and I will submit an itemised quote for your new house wiring, or renovation wiring.

    The law

The law Prohibits you from doing electrical work unless you are a lisenced electrician. Electrical safety is important! Always leave electrical wiring to the lisenced electrical contractor. It’s safer, and you’ll be given an electrical certificate to validate the work.
